Project Description
Burdock (Arctium lappa)
I’ve been looking out for this herb in France, often confusing it with the many thistles here in France. The flowers are similar but the leaves are not spiky like thistles.
Then one day, I was just stepping out of the car to look at a water fall and there they were, these gorgeous bunches of burdock, all along the river in a village of the Pyrenees.
Since then, I’ve seen lots of Burdock on our mountain walks
The medicinal part used is the root which are extremely thick and strong, so needs a lot of work to dig them out.
The medicinal uses are for skin disorders as its actions are ‘depurative’.
We use Burdock in clinic for eczema, dermatitis, acne and psoriasis.
