Project Description
(Cynara scolymus)
Found these the other day in a castle garden in Denmark.
The parts used in herbal medicine are the leaves, but this whole plant is just so beautiful. The flower bud is edible.
In our clinic we use globe artichoke for liver and gallbladder conditions because it has choleretic and hepatoprotective actions. So this maybe helpful for anyone with gall bladder stones, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, nausea, irritable bowel and helpful for lots of digestive symptoms such as constipation, bloating and flatulence.
Of course the buds of the flowers can be eaten (Artichoke) as a food once prepared correctly and is full of essential vitamins and minerals.
Wow what a plant!
